Ninth Street Deli aims to please Eagles and Patriots fans ahead of Super Bowl

There' something for everyone at this eclectic deli in Soulard.

Albert Einstein, Elvis, and the St. Louis Blues all live under one roof at this deli at 9th street and Shenendoah in Soulard.

Owner John Been said, "A throwback joint. When you come in, you get a nostalgic feel of some of the entertainers and artists that are in here. Phenomenons that have struck our lives in some point of time."

Each wall is dedicated to something John loves.

"Between Jimmy Hendrix to Elvis I like Bob Marley to Michael Jackson," he said.

The music played in this sandwich shop is as diverse as the artwork.

"We play a variety of music. Anywhere from Rat Pack to CCR," he said.

Ninth street deli opened in 2007.

"The philosophy I had was to try to accomodate everyone," he said.

And since Ninth Street Deli is in the business of accomodating everyone, they're gearing up for the Super Bowl in a unique way, offering dishes for Patriots fans and Eagles fans.

Clam chowder to represent New England and Philly Cheese Steak topped with Cheez Whiz just like the popular cheesesteak restaurant Geno's in Philadelphia.

"That's what makes it authentic if you're using Geno's recipe," he said, referring to the Cheez Whiz.

There are a couple differences between Geno's sandwich and Ninth Street Deli's. Here, they use red peppers instead of green and they toast the bread.

But if yourre a patriots fan, they have clam chowder, or should we say...

"Clam chowdah, New England clam chowdah. Fresh potatoes, fresh vegetables, we use a nice whipped cream to give it a texture," he said.
