KIRKWOOD, Mo. – The smile of a little girl battling cancer brought a community together.
Sydney Coari, 7, has always dreamed of being a professional model.
“She loves fashion shows on TV and she said, 'Someday I'm going to do that' and I just wanted her to get that chance,” said Dana Manley, Sydney's mom.
Recently, Sydney and her family learned her kidney cancer was terminal. Manley put together Sydney's wish list.
One of the wishes: to be a fashion model.
“When I saw her picture and I saw her wish list, I thought, maybe I can help,” said Shannon Robinson.
Robinson had learned about Sydney's story through a friend. She used her connections and found people to donate their time, talents and products for a photo shoot.
Trenna Travis Design Studio styled the session and took the photographs. Travis asked makeup artist Amanda Bjornson to do the makeup for the shoot.
A variety of companies, like Kortni Jeane, Roolee Boutique and Modern Burlap, donated their products.
They plan to use the professional photos in their marketing campaigns.
“This is a very real photo shoot,” Robinson said. “The companies are going to take these pictures and use them on their social media, on their website. And they're going to share Sydney's story with everyone who follows them.”
Supermodel Alanna Arrington also made a special visit, showing Sydney how to walk a runway and pose for pictures.
“Sydney just seems to steal hearts,” Manley said.
