2 carjackings in 3 days outside Caseyville hotel

The woman was not injured during the incident.

CASEYVILLE, Ill. — Caseyville police are looking for two people in connection with a carjacking outside a hotel late Tuesday night.

Around 11 p.m., a woman staying at the Motel 6 on the 2400 block of Old Country Road walked out to her car upon realizing she could not find a key. While inside her car, a man wearing all black with a black mask approached her with an assault rifle and threatened her life if she did not give him the vehicle.

Police said the woman complied, and the man drove away with her vehicle. Police said another man in a separate, dark-colored car blocked the woman's car into a parking spot prior to the carjacking. That car left with the stolen vehicle.

The woman was not injured during the incident.

This is the second carjacking at that hotel in three days. Police say a similar robbery happened Sunday afternoon.

Police believe the same men could be responsible for the two crimes. No arrests have been made in either case.

Anyone with information should call Caseyville at (618) 344-2151, or Illinois State Police at (618) 346-3990.
