2 women charged after police chase in west St. Louis County

It started when St. Peters police pulled over the car in the Mid Rivers Mall parking lot. That's when police say the driver tried to hit an officer with the car.

Two women have been charged after a police chase that ended on the on-ramp to Interstate 270 off Manchester.

It started when St. Peters police pulled the car over in the Mid Rivers Mall parking lot for careless driving and improper registration. That's when police say the driver tried to drive away and struck one officer in the leg. He did not suffer any injuries.

The suspect's car caused accidents on southbound I-270 during the chase. Police have not heard about any injuries.

After the two women were taken into custody, police searched the car and found more than $1,000 of stolen clothing items.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Monique Lewis, was charged with assault, felony stealing and resisting arrest. Lewis also has an active warrant for her arrest out of Shelby, Tennessee for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Police said no bond has been authorized for the Tennessee warrant.

The passenger, 21-year-old Jameshia Todd, was charged with felony stealing and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Both suspects are from Memphis.
