5 injured, 2 dead in shootings on St. Patrick’s Day in St. Louis

A 23-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were killed in separate shootings on March 17.

ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating several shootings in St. Louis on St. Patrick’s Day.

The first shooting occurred before 5 p.m. in north St. Louis. Police responded to the 4500 block of McMillan Avenue where they found a 23-year-old who was shot and unconscious. He was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Aaron Johnson. Police have a suspect in custody.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the neck around 7 p.m. in north St. Louis. Police responded to the 5500 block of Beacon Avenue where the victim said he was inside the home when an unknown vehicle drove by and fired shots. He was transported to a hospital where he's listed in critical condition.

Around 8:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man suffered a minor injury after he was grazed by a bullet while driving on Kingshighway near Natural Bridge Road. According to police, the victim said he was driving south on Kingshighway when he sped around a Mustang because it was driving slowly. The driver became enraged, and starting firing shots.

Two hours later, a 37-year-old woman was shot in the ear and a man was shot in the right knee during an attempted robbery in south St. Louis.

Police responded to the 3900 block of South Broadway where both victims were found breathing and conscious. Police have not provided any other details.

Around 11 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was shot in the head on the 5100 block of Gilmore. She was breathing and conscious when transported to a hospital. Her condition has not been released.

A man was shot and killed in south St. Louis around 11:20 p.m. Police found the man in the 4500 block of Nebraska Avenue. He's been identified as 37-year-old Jerry Scott.
