Former basketball coach at E STL High School charged with sex crime

The school said Dwan L. Prude was relieved of his coach duties after they learned of the investigation.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - Dwan L. Prude, the former head coach of the girls' basketball team at East St. Louis High School, was charged with solicitation of sex with a minor Thursday.

Prude, 38, was charged out of St. Clair County, Illinois. The charging document said the alleged incident started in December of 2016 and continued until the end of February 2017.

In a statement, the East St. Louis School District said the coach was relieved of his coaching duties when they were made aware of the investigation. The full statement is as follows:

"Several months ago, Mr. Prude was relieved of his coaching duties and placed on administrative leave pending investigation, and the District is proceeding in handling this matter accordingly. Beyond that, the District does not comment on personnel matters."

He has not been taken into custody as of this writing. His bond was set at $50,000.
