While police were searching the car, they found a gun that was reported stolen from the Riverview Police Department.

ST. LOUIS — Two men are in custody and another man got away after police said a car taken in a carjacking crashed while fleeing police in St. Louis Sunday night.

St. Louis police said the car was taken from a 55-year-old man on North Newstead Avenue in the Greater Ville neighborhood. He told police he was getting something out of his 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix when two men came up to him with a gun and demanded his car keys.

The man handed his keys over, and the two men fled the scene in his car.

A short time later, police spotted the car and attempted to pull it over. The car sped off and crashed into another car near the intersection of South Grand Boulevard and University Street.

Police said one of the suspects got out of the car and ran off. The second suspect and a third person in the car were taken into custody before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

While police were searching the car, they found a gun that was reported stolen from the Riverview Police Department.

Charges have not been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
