Woman attacked by 5 boys in south St. Louis

Police are investigating after a woman was attacked in south St. Louis Sunday evening.

A 57-year-old woman told police she got out of her vehicle when she was approached by five boys, who tried to take her purse.

The incident occurred in the 3300 block of California around 6 p.m.

The victim happens to be Missouri Republican committeewoman Terry Vanderwier.

Vanderwier said she held on to her purse as the group of kids kicked her and yelled at her to let the purse go in her front yard. She was robbed of $400 she planned on using to buy furniture.

The suspects range in age from 10 to 15-years-old. They kicked the woman until she gave them her purse.

The suspects fled and the woman’s purse was located in the 3300 block of Nebraska. She suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention.

A neighbor provided 5 on Your Side with surveillance pictures of the kids as they passed her home before the ambush.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
