Murder suspect transfer delayed because of weather

NAVASOTA, Texas - The transfer of a Grimes County murder suspect will have to wait at least one more day.

19-year-old Tyrus Jamond Peters was scheduled to be transferred from the Harris County Jail to the Grimes County Jail on Monday, but the transfer was put on hold because of severe flooding in the Houston area.

Peters is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old David Avery Brown last week. Brown was found on the porch of a home with gunshot wounds in the front, side and back of his torso.

The Grimes County Sheriff's Department says that Harris County can hold Peters up to ten days. They expect to bring Peters to the Grimes County Jail on Tuesday or Wednesday.
