COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — Three people, including a small child, were the latest victims in Madison County to experience a run-in with home invaders this week, police said.
Just after midnight Thursday, Madison County officers told 5 On Your Side "at least" two people forced their way into a residence on the 3300 block of Fairmont Avenue. The residents, two adults, and a 4-year-old child, locked themselves in a bathroom while the suspects rummaged through the house.
The suspects allegedly stayed inside the home for no more than three minutes. There were no injuries during the incident. It is unknown if the suspects stole anything from the residence.
Madison County police did not have any information on the identity of the suspects.
Just three days prior on Monday, four women were inside their Granite City home when several men broke into their home by kicking in their back door. Once inside, the men ransacked their personal belongings but did not steal anything. One of the women was struck in the head with a pistol, but she did not sustain serious injury.
The Granite City Police Department is investigating that case.
