St. Ann Police investigating a stabbing and carjacking in St. Ann Sunday afternoon.

ST. ANN, Mo. – An Uber driver was stabbed in the face and had his car stolen by a passenger Sunday afternoon in St. Ann, the police chief said.

St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez said the driver was dropping off passengers near the intersection of Lorraine and Geraldine Avenues.

Police said two men and a woman were in the car around 3:30 p.m. The woman and a man got out of the car while the other man, a 17-year-old, stayed in the car and attacked the driver with a box-knife and drove off with the car.

Police chased the teen before he gave himself up near Missouri Bottom Road and 370 in Bridgeton. He parked the car on an incline, and it slid into a police car, but no officers were injured. Offices said they found the knife either near or in the car when they arrested the teenager.

A few kids found a blood-covered cell phone outside some businesses near the St. Anne Police Department. It belongs to the victim. Investigators believe the 17-year-old probably threw the phone out of the car so that he couldn’t be tracked in the stolen car. The two people who were in the car with the teenager called 911 and are cooperating with police.

The stabbed driver was taken from the scene of the car theft in an ambulance.

A spokesperson for Uber said the suspects are no longer allowed to access the app. The spokesperson also released the following statement:

"The senseless act of violence the driver reported to police is deeply troubling. We have been in contact with the driver and stand ready to help police. The rider has been permanently removed from the app."

Charges are The investigation is ongoing.
