ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after a 37-year-old woman was carjacked outside of a downtown Imo’s Monday afternoon.

The woman went to the Imo’s at 904 South 4th street around 4:10 p.m. to pick up a food order.

After she got her food she went back to her light blue 2011 Kia Rio to put her food in the passenger seat.

She walked to the driver’s door and a man approached her and pushed her against the vehicle. He demanded her key and then fled.

The woman ran back inside the restaurant. Manager Matt Paton helped calm her down and called police.

“When she comes in yelling car and pointing down the road, that's when I put two and two together that she got her car stolen from her,” Paton said. “She was in shock, extreme panic. I literally thought she was about to have a heart attack.”

When the woman’s parents came to pick her up, the employees made them a meal, showing a little kindness to a woman who had just experienced a crime.

“I felt helpless for her,” Paton said. “It just hurt to see something like that happen.”

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Police do not have any suspects in custody.
