National Frozen Foods Corporation has voluntarily recalled frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables for possible listeria contamination.

The not-ready-to eat vegetable were sold nationwide at stores including Walmart and Target, and were distributed between September 2, 2015, and June 2.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, frail or elderly people or those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

The frozen vegetables products have been recalled as a precaution after a sample tested by NFFC revealed the finished products may be contaminated.
