Weight Watchers recalls ice cream with cookie dough bits

Weight Watchers is voluntarily recalling its “Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae” frozen desserts due to possible Listeria contamination.

The company says the cookie dough comes from a third-party company.

According to the recall notice, the issue was identified when Aspen Hills, the supplier of the cookie dough pieces, reported positive test results for Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

There have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness related to this recall, according to Weight Watchers.

The recall is for approximately 100,000 cases of Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae frozen desserts.

No other sizes, varieties or code dates of Weight Watchers Smart Ones products are included in this recall.

Customers can return the recalled product to the store they purchased it from for a refund.
