WASHINGTON CO., Mo. - A 14-year-old has been hospitalized after an accidental shooting while hunting with his father Wednesday morning.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the father and 14-year-old went to a privately-owned piece of land near Richwoods to deer hunt. When they exited the vehicle, the father was trying to load his rifle when a bullet jammed, while attempting to clear the weapon it discharged and hit the 14-year-old boy in the upper leg.
The 14-year-old was taken to Cardinal Glennon by his father and has non-life-threatening injuries.
The Missouri Conservation Department is assisting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
