1.5 million magazines lost in massive warehouse fire

They’re not sure what will happen to their magazine. For now, they’ll pray and find a way to spread their message and their faith.

ST. LOUIS – Another casualty of last week’s massive warehouse fire: 1.5 million magazines.

Kathy Schulz is the publisher of the Lutheran magazine, “Good News”. She stored archived copies and current issues inside the warehouse.

On Monday, she went to the scene of the fire for the first time.

“It doesn't do any good to cry,” Schulz said, as she surveyed the damage.

Schulz and her husband Rev. Wallace Schulz started the magazine in the early 1990s to help churches in the Soviet Union come together. Their mission grew, and the magazine is printed in 20 languages and distributed to more than 100 countries. Lutheran churches in the U.S. also subscribe to it.

“People use it around the United States for Bible study, evangelism,” Schulz said.

They’re not sure what will happen to their magazine. For now, they’ll pray and find a way to spread their message and their faith.

“Whatever was lost in this fire was temporary and there is a greater hope in the future,” Schulz said.
