ST. LOUIS — A late night house fire in north St. Louis claimed the lives of two household dogs, fire officials said.
The fire broke out in the 8200 block of Garfield Avenue shortly before midnight Tuesday inside of a single-residence house. While the kitchen was destroyed and a nearby room was significantly damaged, firefighters said two dogs were found dead of apparent smoke inhalation once the fire was contained.
The homeowner was able to escape without harm.
