5 On Your Side's I-TEAM has learned of new details in an investigation into the Missouri Veterans Home of St. Louis previously reported on last month

5 On Your Side exposed disturbing claims about another home previously managed by the same supervisor. The claims are leveled at Renaissance Park South otherwise known as Symphony of Morgan Park, an Illinois nursing home that Rolando Carter headed before becoming the administrator here in St. Louis.

"I would rather be dead than be here," claimed Poholsky when she visited him in the Missouri Veterans Home of St. Louis

Poholsky said she sees little compassion and urgency among some caregivers at the home.

“This has to come down from the administrator,” she said.

Poholsky blames that administrator, Rolando Carter. Carter and the nursing home he oversaw in Illinois called Renaissance Park South are currently defendants in a lawsuit.

The suit claims a blind patient with swallowing difficulties was allowed to eat hard candy. That woman choked to death.

Then there were problems cited in in government inspections as well. A 2013 report notes failure to take proper steps to prevent falls. One patient fell 9 times in just a couple of months. Another report from 2013, notes a patient died because his catheter was not secured properly.

Poholsky says another administrator could address some of the concerns she has about the home in St. Louis.

“They have to have the reporting they have to have the checking from the top on down,” she said.

We contacted the Missouri Veterans Commission, and Carter about our story and the allegations we mentioned. We have not yet received a response.
