Ark. family demands answers 6 months after murder

A family in Pine Bluff, Ark. is demanding answers from police after one of their own was killed in a home invasion last year.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - A family in Pine Bluff, Ark. is demanding answers from police after one of their own was killed in a home invasion last year.

“We need answers. This family demands answers, and we want justice to be done for our son,” Keith Wilbert Sr. explained.

An outraged family at down with THV11's Marlisa Goldsmith just minutes after taking their concerns to Pine Bluff officials. Wilbert Sr. continued, “If this has happened to our son’s case, just imagine if it’s happened to anybody else’s case. Maybe we’re the only individuals who have spoken up about this.”

Last September, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff student, Keith Wilbert Jr. was shot and killed in his own home. Pine Bluff detectives told THV11 they’ve been investigating the case for the past six months. A $10,000 reward is waiting for anyone with valuable information, however it is still not enough to attract any tips that have led to a suspect in the case.

“Nothing has come about. So, we just find that strange,” Wilbert Sr. said

In January, a teenager was arrested in connection to Wilbert Jr.’s murder, however that suspect no longer faces jail after a judge found no probable cause for him to be charged.

Wilbert asked, “Who is being held accountable and does this actually happen in the 21st century when you have so much technology out there?”

That is just one of the many questions this family has about the investigation, and now they are asking for new eyes to examine the case in hopes of finding the person responsible for killing the 21-year-old.

“This family is not going to stop until this crime is solved,” said Wilbert Sr.

If you have any information regarding this homicide you are asked to contact Pine Bluff Police at (870) 730-2090.
