GODFREY, Ill. — A car struck two homes Saturday morning at around 6 a.m. in Godfrey, Illinois.
The homes are at the 1200 Block of Ranworth Drive, near Pierce Lane. The car appeared to barrel through the backyard fencing of one home and hit the corner of another home.
The shift commander at Godfrey Fire Department said the driver was taken to a St. Louis area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
They said two buildings were struck, but only one was significantly damaged.
They said gas and power had to be cut off at one of the homes, and the residents were displaced.
Jill Wegescheive, one of the neighbors whose home was hit, said speeding is an ongoing problem for the neighborhood.
"This area, right here off of Pierce Lane, we have frequent wrecks, where people come flying around the corner off Pierce Lane at accelerated speeds," Wegescheive said.
