CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Police were able to link a man to multiple robberies in Conway, Ark. after finding his fingerprint on a gas station snack.
John Rockins, 52, was arrested in Little Rock off East Capitol Avenue on Thursday.
Police believe he is responsible for robbing the Conoco gas station off Skyline Drive in Conway two times within a matter of days, both with the same clerk. The first incident was on February 27 and the second on March 5. The clerk told police the suspect came into the Conoco, indicated he had a gun and demanded money.
According to Conway Police Department spokesperson LaTresha Woodruff, Rockins first became a suspect through tips given by witnesses. Later, investigators lifted a fingerprint off of a cinnamon roll wrapper, linking Rockins to the crime. The clerk told police she had seen Rockins pick up the snack, put it back down and leave the store only to return later to rob it.
During his arrest, they also found the truck he used to leave from at least one of the Conoco robberies.
Rockins had previously been arrested for the robbery of a Mobile On The Run in Conway. He was caught on surveillance footage robbing the store a couple of days after the Conoco incident on March 5.
Rockins is currently being held at the Faulkner County Detention Center. Last November, he was released from prison after serving time for similar crimes.
