Increase in victims reporting sexual abuse in St. Louis region

The YWCA program director says in most cases of sexual assault or harassment the victim knows the person who has done it.

The sexual misconduct scandals in Hollywood and now at the TV networks are encouraging more local women to come forward with their stories.

The YWCA or the St. Louis Regional Sexual Assault Center say there has been a significant increase in the number of people calling about sexual abuse.

Callers want to explore their legal options and find out how to get help. There are also more people reporting cases of child abuse and trying to see what actions they can take against sexual harassment in the workplace.
