ST. LOUIS - A MetroBus driver was accused of disrespecting a young man with an alleged mental illness. His family members told 5 On Your Side the driver took video of their loved one having a psychotic episode, then posted it on Facebook.

Rose Robinson, aunt of the unidentified man, said her 20-year-old nephew was in the midst of a psychotic episode while at a MetroLink platform Tuesday. She said her nephew had been dealing with these episodes on and off for the past few weeks, which began when he experimented with marijuana laced with another chemical.

While the man was standing in an elevator at the Grand Station, a MetroBus driver allegedly began recording him. He later posted the video on Facebook.

"He said on there, 'Come get your relative laugh out loud, only in the Lou Grand Station,'" said Robinson.

Robinson said another family who also works for Metro asked the driver to remove the video from his Facebook profile. The man, however, did not comply - and Robinson then filed a report with Metro.

"I don't want them to ever be able to put that uniform on and drive other people around and it happen again."

Metro leaders sent 5 On Your Side a statement which read in part, "When there are rare allegations of unprofessional behavior or misconduct, we address them. We have no tolerance for unprofessional, disrespectful behavior toward any Metro customer."

Metro added they plan to conduct their own investigation into the matter. If they find the employee in question did act inappropriately, they will be disciplined.

"I'm telling this story for the next time that this happens," said Robinson. "They'll know what to do. It won't be the same outcome that my nephew had."

Robinson's nephew is receiving treatment at an area hospital.
