JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – An 18-year-old student has been arrested after a bomb threat caused an evacuation at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill Wednesday afternoon.

K-9 units searched the school but did not find any additional threat.

The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District made the following statement on Facebook:

Today the fire district responded to a bomb threat at the Northwest High School. We would like to commend the School District and Sheriffs Department on how the situation was handled. School administrators and staff quickly made sure all students were evacuated. They did an amazing job making sure that all staff and students stayed safe and were able to dismiss on time even while not being able to access the building. The Sheriffs Department had trained K-9’s search and clear the whole building in a very short period of time considering the size of the school. The student who made the threat was taken into police custody.Parents, please make sure your children know that threats like this are not acceptable. The school district and first responders take these situations very seriously.
