Schnucks and Salvation Army kick off bell ringing season in Ferguson

It's that time of year again when you hear bells ringing outside area Schnucks stores.

Schnucks and Salvation Army are teaming up to kick off the 70th annual "Tree of Lights" campaign in Ferguson this week.

The campaign involves volunteers standing outside area Schnucks stores ringing bells and asking customers to drop donations in red kettles.

Schnucks CEO Todd Schnuck will join volunteers in ringing bells at the Ferguson store on Friday.

In addition to the red kettle drive, Schnucks will also offer a scan and give option at the checkout for customers who would rather donate using their card than giving cash.

Last year’s scan and give campaign raised $86,000 from across 100 stores.

All Schnucks locations across the St. Louis and Southern Illinois area will participate in this year’s drive between Nov. 17 and Dec. 23.
