He often sees families at their worst, as victims of crime or just struggling to get by, but St. Louis County Officer Ed Schlueter is going beyond the call of duty to help the Dellwood-Ferguson community he patrols.
Officer Schlueter passes out gift cards to people in need. People from all over the country purchase $5 and $10 gift cards to local stores and fast food restaurants like CVS, Taco Bell or McDonalds. Officer Schlueter makes sure the gift cards end up in the hands of people who might be going through difficult times.
He says it's a positive way to give back to the community. He also gives the gift cards to other officers to pass out on their own.
