Suspect arrested, charged for shooting at Jefferson Co. deputy

A suspect who fired at a deputy was arrested and charged on Friday.

JEFFERSON CO., Mo. — A suspect who fired at a deputy was arrested on Friday.

Jacob Wray, 27, is charged with first degree assault, unlawful use of weapon and armed criminal action. His bond is set at $750,000.

Sheriff Dave Marshak tweeted Friday morning, saying, "Suspect found in shed on Highway JJ in custody. All clear." 5 On Your Side learned a homeowner spotted the suspect and held him at gunpoint until authorities arrived on scene to detain the man.

On Thursday, a Jefferson County deputy saw a car on the side of the road at Highways JJ and T and the suspect started firing. The man fled on foot into the woods and police say he's armed. The car was reported stolen from St. Francois County.

The deputy was not injured during the incident.
