Vigil for woman killed 3 days before Christmas

At the vigil, only a couple of people spoke. There were several moments where sobbing was the only sound.
Dozens of people honored Chanice White, 24, at a vigil Friday. Police say she and two other young women were killed during a home invasion.

Dozens of family members and friends met in Bellefontaine Neighbors to honor Chanice White. She was one of three women killed as they tried to escape a home invasion Friday.

Police say Reeba Moore, Dominique Lewis, and White were gunned down around 3 AM. The women were inside a home in the 4200 block of John Ave. when attackers forced their way inside. The victims tried to escape, but were shot and killed inside a car before they could drive away.

At the vigil, only a couple of people spoke. There were several moments where sobbing was the only sound.

White's loved ones called her Channie and they spelled out her nickname in candles on the ground. Tianna Davis, her cousin, says Channie was a hard worker. She worked full time in dining services at St. Luke's hospital and had dreams of going back to school for nursing. She was only 24 when she was killed."She was the life of the party always smiling always happy," Davis said. "If you were in a bad mood she could get you out of it. She did nothing to deserve to be taken away so early without being able to fulfill her dreams or live her life."

Police have not made any arrests in this case. Family members are asking anyone with information to come forward. CrimeStoppers is offering $15,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
