Deciphering Thanksgiving day store hours can deflate your holiday cheer. Because there's nothing worse than a deserted grocery parking lot. Here are the closures and adjusted hours for the businesses you care about.

Post Offices, libraries, motor vehicle administration buildings and other government and state offices will be closed under Federal Law 5 U.S.C. 6103. However, national parks remain open during the holiday, from sunrise until sunset.

Big-box-stores Costco and Sam's Club will be closed on Turkey Day, preparing for Black Friday and Thanksgiving weekend.

Giant will be closed until Friday, while Target will be closed during Thursday day and open at 6 p.m. Walgreens and CVS will operate under normal hours. Walmart will be open 24 hours, but Black Friday deals start at 6 p.m.

Stores have been pushing the clocks forward, opening more opportunities for savings while mitigating crowding and stampedes. D.C., Maryland and Virginia shopping malls will generally stay open on November 24; however, check locations for store hours.

TheBlackFriday.com and DealNews also published comprehensive guides to retailers closings.
