5 things you need to know Tuesday

Wisconsin heads to the polls

Wisconsin heads to the polls

The unpredictable presidential race of 2016 returns Tuesday with the Wisconsin primary. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is hoping for a big win in the state, where 86 delegates are at stake, even as front-runner Hillary Clinton maintains a sizable delegate lead. On the Republican side, polls show front-runner Donald Trump trailing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's endorsement. Trump has been calling for rival John Kasich, whose only primary win was in his home state of Ohio, to leave the race.

UConn nears unprecedented fourth consecutive NCAA championship

UConn will play former Big East foe Syracuse on Tuesday night with a chance to become the first women's team to win four straight Division I titles. Only UCLA, with seven in a row from 1967-73, has done it on the men's side. A UConn victory would give coach Geno Auriemma 11 national championships — one more than Bruins coach John Wooden for the most ever in the history of college basketball.

More spring snow on the way

Say it ain't so: Winter is just refusing to let go. Wintry precipitation is expected for portions of the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes on Tuesday, the weather service said. Over the past couple days, heavy snow pasted parts of the Great Lakes and Northeast, and whiteout conditions in New York state caused dozens of accidents. Looking past Tuesday's snow, no real signs of consistent spring warmth are forecast for the north-central and northeastern U.S. in the first half of April, according to AccuWeather.

Ferguson to vote on taxes to fund police, court reforms

Residents of Ferguson, Mo., will vote Tuesday on two tax increases the city says are necessary to fund federally mandated police and court reforms stemming from the killing of a black teenager by a white police officer in 2014. Last month, the City Council approved an agreement with the Justice Department that includes police diversity training, body cameras and other measures. Mayor James Knowles III last week said failure to pass the tax increases could force layoffs and prevent the city from fully complying with the agreement.

It's the finale of FX's 'O.J.' miniseries

FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson airs its 90-minute finale Tuesday (10 p.m. ET/PT). Jeffrey Toobin’s detailed book, The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson, provided gems for writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who expanded the story with their own research. “We were trying to startle the audience with stuff that nobody knows. That was our personal mandate,” Alexander says.
