'Assassin's Creed' trailer: Michael Fassbender kills it (literally)

Listen, sometimes it is very, very difficult to make a video game into a good movie. We all know what happened with Super Mario Bros. and, um, Pixels. But we do have a lot of hope for the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie, which, in addition to starring your faves Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, seems to do be something really interesting with the source material, and also not clinging too closely to it. At least that's what it looks like from the first trailer, which also has the benefit of being scored by Kanye West's I Am a God

The film follows Callum Lynch (Fassbender), who wakes up in a laboratory after being "executed" to discover that he's been recruited for something called "Animus." He then taps into his ancestor's memories and ends up reliving his experiences in the Spanish Inquisition. There's more sci-fi and more conspiracy for you, but all in all, this trailer leaves us very hopeful about the prospect for the movie. And also, everything Fassbender wears in the movie.
