Celeb superlatives: Coachella, Clooney and 'Empire'

USA TODAY's Kelly Lawler digs through the latest celebrity news for highlights ... and lowlights. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if George Clooney and Rihanna were classmates.

Most likely to be called short by a presidential candidate: George Clooney

Most likely to be called short by a presidential candidate: George Clooney

Is it possible for any celebrity to talk about politics without someone bringing up Donald Trump these days? Maybe, but it wasn't possible for Clooney, who appeared on Meet the Press after a weekend spent shilling for Hillary Clinton. Host Chuck Todd just had to ask Clooney if he'd ever interacted with the Republican candidate, to which Clooney had a good answer: "I've met him once. I was sitting down  at a table and he was nice. And we talked a couple of times, I think. And then he went on 'Larry King' and told everybody I was very short," Clooney said, laughing. As for names Clooney has called Trump, Todd noted that the actor had referred to the politician as a "xenophobic fascist." "I hope I'm quoting you correctly," Todd said. Responded Clooney: "I think you're pretty close."

Cutest baby name: Luna Simone Stephens

Talk about #ParentGoals. Celeb power couple and all-around awesome people John Legend and Chrissy Teigen welcomed their first daughter April 14, to the joy and congratulations of their many fans. And the best part? The kid's name: Luna Simone Stephens (Legend's birth name is John Roger Stephens). Was it inspired by Harry Potter character Luna Lovegood? We don't know, but we do know that the 6-pound, 11-ounce bundle of joy is making the new couple sleepy. Very sleepy, according to Teigen's Instagram.

Best surprise guest: Kesha

Kesha is free — that is, to perform at Coachella. The pop star took a break from her legal fight with producer Dr. Luke to join Zedd's set at the festival in Indio, Calif. "I've got something very big planned," Zedd teased on Twitter before Kesha took the stage during his EDM set, attired in gauzy black, rainbow hair and a black chapeau. She sang the DJ's True Colors for her first public performance in months but made no reference to her legal case. But hey, her fans were just thrilled that she was there and expressing their joy on Twitter.

Most intriguing whisper: Leo DiCaprio to Rihanna

Rihanna maybe found love in a hopeless place — the dusty, sweaty, neon-splattered polo fields of Coachella. And we're not talking about the love her fans had for her and her surprise set at the festival. The singer was spotted with her rumored former flame Leonardo DiCaprio at a party Saturday night, despite their best attempts to go incognito. The photo of the pair whispering to each other in the crowd has us thinking that "RihCaprio" has a nice ring to it ...

Biggest crusher of dreams: Michelle Williams

When it comes to a Dawson's Creek reunion, will we have to wait for our lives to be over? Maybe. On the Today Show Monday, the former Dawson's star  said she enjoys daydreaming about a possible reunion with fellow stars James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, and Joshua Jackson. "I think it's a fun thing to sort of imagine. I like imagining it, but I haven't really heard anybody saying anything actually serious about that happening." Even if a reunion were planned, there is that one, small (spoiler) thing: her character, Jen,  died in the series finale in 2003. "I would have to come back as a ghost, or put a lot of filters on the camera," the actress told Savannah Guthrie. "I'll do flashback scenes." So maybe there's hope?

Biggest Lyon of a marriage: Empire stars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey

Empire stars Trai Byers, 32, who plays Andre Lyon, and Grace Gealey, 31, who plays Anika, aka Boo Boo Kitty, have confirmed reports that they are married. His character is Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson's) eldest son, and her business executive character has been one of Cookie's major rivals on the show. The pair confirmed their marriage on Gealey's Instagram, captioning a sweet photo with: "We're married! God is so good. To all who have extended congrats and well wishes, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts." That's great and all, but we have to ask: What would Cookie think of this development?
