MIAMI (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are taking big swings to little effect.
Arizona's losing streak reached six games Thursday when Adam Conley and four relievers combined on a five-hitter to help the Miami Marlins win, 4-0.
The Diamondbacks have now been swept in back-to-back three-game series, primarily because of a sputtering offense.
"From one to nine, including the pitchers, just too big of swings," manager Chip Hale said. "As the game went on they got bigger and bigger, so we'll address that."
Arizona has totaled 12 runs during the losing streak.
"It's hard to score runs when you don't get too many hits," Hale said. "We're just not swinging it right now."
The Marlins won for the 10th time in the past 11 games, and climbed three games above .500 for the first time since June 2014.
Conley said the surge is no surprise.
"You look at our lineup — on paper we're as good as anyone in baseball," he said.
Christian Yelich hit a two-run homer, and Derek Dietrich and Chris Johnson had two-out RBI hits. Giancarlo Stanton went 2 for 3 with a double and scored a run.
Conley (2-1) gave up two hits in 5 1/3 innings and departed after throwing 88 pitches. The left-hander allowed no hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings last Friday before being taken out of the game at Milwaukee when his pitch count reached 116.
Miami's bullpen held Arizona scoreless over the final 3 2/3 innings, and totaled 10 2/3 shutout innings in the series.
Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt went 0 for 4, struck out twice and grounded into a double play, lowering his average to .232.
"He's just not having a whole lot of success right now," Hale said. "Sometimes you go through slumps, and he's in one."
Shortstop Nick Ahmed went 0 for 3 to drop his average to .177. David Peralta is batting .259, and Chris Owings is at .253.
Robbie Ray (1-2) allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings for Arizona.
"We're fine," Ray said. "There's not a whole lot of frustration. It's a long season and everybody here understands that so we just keep our heads down, come back out tomorrow and do our job."
OUTDOOR BASEBALL
It was Miami's first outdoor victory at home since September. On a 74-degree night, the retractable roof at Marlins Park was open for only the second time this season.
STREAK ENDS
Arizona's Welington Castillo singled sharply with two out in the fourth to end Conley's hitless streak of 11 1/3 innings, a franchise record for a starter.
"I hope I go 12 next time," Conley said.
TRAINER'S ROOM
Diamondbacks 2B Jean Segura returned to the lineup after missing three games with a sore hip, and he went 2 for 4.

Diamondbacks RHP Zack Greinke (2-2, 5.50) is set to start Friday's series opener at Atlanta against Aaron Blair (0-1, 3.18).
