DeAngelo Williams, Vontaze Burfict trade barbs over Twitter

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals haven't let their rivalry cool in the offseason. Now the trash talk is spilling over to Twitter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals haven't let their rivalry cool in the offseason. Now the trash talk is spilling over to Twitter.

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams told ESPN on Wednesday that he felt Pittsburgh would have made a Super Bowl run had wide receiver Antonio Brown not been injured in the last minute of an 18-16 AFC wild-card win over the Bengals. Brown sustained a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict and missed the Steelers' 23-16 loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos the following week.

Burfict, who later was suspended three games for being a repeat violator of the league's safety-related playing rules, didn't take kindly to Williams bringing up the hit again.

Even if Burfict misses one of the two matchups between the Bengals and Steelers in the regular season, expect the animosity to linger.
