DENVER (AP) — The San Diego Padres have ended their major league record 30-inning scoreless streak to start the season.

Jon Jay's single off Jordan Lyles with one out in the fourth inning Friday at Colorado scored Melvin Upton Jr. from second base with San Diego's first run this season.

The Padres piled on from there, taking a 4-2 lead on Cory Spangenberg's two-run triple and Matt Kemp's RBI single that chased Lyles.

The Padres became the first team in major league history to be shut out in its first three games when they were outscored 25-0 in their opening series at home against the Dodgers.

They surpassed the MLB mark of 26 straight scoreless innings to open a season set by the 1943 St. Louis Browns.
