TV tonight: Finales for 'Big Bang,' 'Scandal'

The Big Bang Theory CBS, 8 ET/PT

The Big Bang Theory
CBS, 8 ET/PT

Parental-induced chaos reigns on Big Bang, as TV’s most popular comedy signs off for the season with a triple-play of great Emmy-winning guests: Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon’s mom; Judd Hirsch as Leonard’s previously unseen father; and Christine Baranski as Leonard’s mother. (And if Baranski’s heart-breaking tour de force in The Good Wife finale hasn’t pushed her firmly into the Emmy conversation, she should hire Alicia to file suit.) Considering that Sheldon and Leonard’s moms have never exactly blended, and Leonard’s parents have just divorced, it’s likely the boys are in for a tough night — and viewers are in for a good one.

Scandal
ABC, 9 ET/PT

You can expect someone to get scalded as this crazed potboiler ends its season with the presidential candidates choosing running mates, Cyrus mulling a potentially game-changing secret, and Olivia facing yet another potentially death-dealing threat. In other words, it’s business as usual on a once-red-hot-and-now-cooling series that may want to consider bringing that pot down to a simmer next season.

2 Broke Girls
CBS, 9:30 ET/PT

Need proof that life is unfair? In Girls'' season finale, the diner staff has to put their own problems on hold to save Han from a bookie he can’t pay. Need more proof? Girls will be back next season, and Good Wife won’t.
