CHICAGO (AP) — Tim Anderson and Dioner Navarro each hit a two-run homer off CC Sabathia, helping James Shields and the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees 8-2 on Monday.
Chicago had a string of 15 consecutive solo shots, matching a franchise record, before Anderson connected in the third inning, tying it at 2. Brett Lawrie hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the fifth before Navarro belted a drive to left field for his fifth homer.
Anderson went 2 for 4 for his 12th multihit game since he was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte on June 10. Navarro has seven RBIs in the last three games — all wins for resurgent Chicago.
Chase Headley hit a two-run homer for New York, which has lost three of four. Starlin Castro went 4 for 4 with two doubles in his first game in Chicago since the Yankees acquired the infielder in a December trade with the Cubs.
Sabathia (5-6) struck out nine in six innings, but allowed five runs and eight hits. The big left-hander has dropped each of his last two starts and is winless in his last three outings with an 8.31 ERA during that stretch.
While Sabathia is struggling, Shields (4-9) got his second straight win after a long slump that started with San Diego and carried over to Chicago after he was acquired in a trade a month ago. The right-hander, who went 0-2 with a 15.80 ERA in his first four starts for the White Sox, limited New York to five hits in six innings.
The Yankees loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth, but Shields retired Aaron Hicks on a fly to right to end the inning. They put the first two batters on in the eighth before Nate Jones struck out Didi Gregorius, Headley and Hicks — all swinging.
New York (40-42) went 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position. It also was hurt by three errors by the normally sure-handed Gregorius at shortstop, including a flubbed grounder that helped the White Sox score two runs in the eighth.
Todd Frazier went 3 for 3 with two walks as Chicago (43-40) moved three games over .500 for the first time since June 3. It has won five of six and 10 of 14 overall.
WORTH NOTING
Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury reached on catcher's interference for the eighth time this year, tying the major league record set by Roberto Kelly of the Yankees in 1992.
TOUGH SCHEDULE
The Yankees opened a 10-game trip by dropping two of three at San Diego, winning 6-3 on Sunday to prevent a sweep. Then they flew to Chicago for Monday afternoon's series opener, annoying manager Joe Girardi.
"You go out to the West Coast, you ought to stay out there for a while," he said. "I don't get it. It should be a three-city stop."

Yankees: Carlos Beltran (right hamstring) went 1 for 5 as the designated hitter. "I'm not ready to put him in right field," Girardi said. ... A day after he homered twice to get to 401 for his career, Mark Teixeira got the day off to protect his right knee from the short turnaround between games. The switch-hitting first baseman came off the disabled list June 25 after being sidelined with torn cartilage in his right knee.
White Sox: OF Melky Cabrera went 2 for 5 in his return to the starting lineup after missing five games with a mild right wrist sprain. He also made a diving catch in left in the seventh.

White Sox LHP Carlos Rodon (2-6, 4.24 ERA) tries for his first win since May 22 when he gets the ball Tuesday night. The Yankees counter with RHP Masahiro Tanaka (5-2, 3.35), who is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in his last three starts.
