Krispy Kreme hatches Reese's Peanut Butter Egg Doughnut for Easter

The promotion runs through Easter, April 1.

What’s better than a doughnut? Maybe one decorated to look like an Easter egg and filled with a Reese's peanut-butter filling.

Krispy Kreme is hoping that it can cut in on Easter candy phenomenon with a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg doughnut.

Krispy Kreme, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., says its holiday-themed doughnut will be decorated with blue and yellow stripes on a brown background to make it look like an Easter egg. It will be unglazed, topped with chocolate icing and nuts and filled with a peanut butter filling.

The promotion starts today and runs through Easter, April 1.

This is not the first Krispy Kreme-Reese’s collaboration. Krispy Kreme’s Reese's Peanut Butter Doughnut hit shelves in the United Kingdom in 2015 and came to the U.S. last summer.

“The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg is a fun, seasonal take on our delicious collaborations with Reese," says Jackie Woodward, the chain's chief marketing officer.

The company is also planning for the release of its Lemon Glaze Doughnut, which will be available for one week starting April 23.
