21-year-old man charged in double homicide in Kinloch

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A man has been charged with killing two people after a carjacking in Kinloch Dec. 17.

Officers responded to Tuttle Street off Suburban around 2 a.m. where they found a man and woman shot after an apparent carjacking.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. They were identified as 39-year-old Richard Berry and 21-year-old Destiny Howard.

An investigation has shown another woman and 3-year-old were also in the car at the time of the carjacking. They were both uninjured.

On Jan. 11, 21-year-old Darren Thomas Jr. was charged with first degree murder, first degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and first degree robbery.

Thomas is being held without bond.
