ST. LOUIS — Crews from Spire have fixed a gas leak that occurred Saturday night in a 12-inch main that runs under a street in a south St. Louis neighborhood. The area is safe, Spire reported Sunday morning.
Spire said the gas leak happened around 9 p.m. at Fyler Avenue and South Kingshighway Boulevard.
Residents who live on the block affected by the gas leak were evacuated, according to the St. Louis Fire Department. They report no injuries.
Spire crews are assessing the damage and making repairs Sunday morning. Nearly all the customers had service restored Sunday afternoon. Workers were still waiting to re-light appliances for customers at around 5 p.m. Spire said crews will continue working until all of the work is finished and customers have service again.
