The St. Louis Cardinals have reportedly inked a deal with veteran relief pitcher Luke Gregerson to bolster their bullpen.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the deal will pay Gregerson $11 million over two years and has an option for a third year.

Gregerson, a 33-year-old right-hander who was drafted by the Cardinals more than 10 years ago, posted a career-worst 4.57 ERA in 61 innings for the World Series Champion Houston Astros. He threw 3.2 scoreless innings in the Astros' run to the championship.

In the two seasons before that, he saved 46 games with a 3.19 ERA and 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

One improvement the Cardinals may be hoping for could come from a change of venue. Gregerson allowed nine home runs at Minute Maid Park, the hitter-friendly home of the Astros, in 2017. In coming to St. Louis, Gregerson will inherit a pitcher-friendly park that is among the hardest to hit home runs.

Ken Rosenthal, who first reported the deal, said it is pending a physical.

MLB's winter meetings started Sunday, and Nightengale believes the Cardinals will be among the busiest teams at the five-day event in Orlando, Florida.
