O'Neill among 9 trimmed from Cardinals' MLB camp

The Cardinals now have 46 players left in big league camp, including 11 non-roster invites.

JUPITER, Fla. – The Cardinals got closer to their opening day roster Sunday by trimming another nine players from major league camp.

Outfield prospect Tyler O'Neill, who impressed with his physique in his first camp with the Cardinals, was optioned to triple-A Memphis after a string of injuries. He returned from a hip injury on Friday but had to be removed from that game with a hamstring injury.

Infielder Edmundo Sosa and pitcher Austin Gomber were also optioned to Memphis. Derian Gonzalez and Conner Greene were sent to double-A Springfield and Ryan Helsley, Dakota Hudson, Arturo Reyes and Tommy Edman were assigned to minor league camp.

The Cardinals now have 46 players left in big league camp, including 11 non-roster invites.
