The Cardinals are further bolstering their bullpen by bringing in free-agent right-hander Bud Norris, a source has told MLB.com's Joe Trezza.

The news was first reported by MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal, who noted that the deal is pending a physical. The club has not confirmed the report.

Norris, 32, pitched in relief with the Angels for the majority of his 2017 campaign -- he made just three starts -- to fairly good results. He posted a career-best 27.7 percent strikeout rate and eventually earned his way into the closer's role. Although his ERA sat at 4.21 on the year, he had a stellar 2.23 ERA in the first half before injuries derailed his season.
