Jaden Schwartz’s career year has been put on hold.

The St. Louis Blues announced Sunday morning that the left winger would be re-evaluated in six weeks after suffering a right ankle injury. He was placed on the injured reserve.

Schwartz blocked a shot in the first period against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday and left the game. X-rays came back negative, but he was due to be re-examined when the team returned to St. Louis.

Schwartz has 14 goals and 35 points, which ranks ninth in the NHL. The first-line winger was on pace for 38 goals and 96 points, all career highs.

The Blues, who recalled forward Ivan Barbashev, are 20-8-2 and their 42 points are the third most in the NHL.
