5 things that happened at the Olympics on Valentine's Day

If you missed it, you missed some great drama. But you also missed some romance for Valentine's Day and a scary crash on the halfpipe.

Today is all about love.

Tuesday night was all about Shaun White.

The snowboarder won his third Olympic gold medal on Tuesday, and it was the 100th Olympic medal from the Winter Games for Team USA.

If you missed it, you missed some great drama. But you also missed some romance for Valentine's Day and a scary crash on the halfpipe.

Without further ado, here are the five things you missed overnight from PyeongChang.

1) Shaun White overcome with emotion

White was in second place going into his final run. Japan's Aymu Hirano was in first place after doing back to back 1440s followed by consecutive 1260s. White did a similar run, but reached insane heights to get his score up to 97.75 and win the gold medal.

His reaction was priceless. He fell into his parents' arms and was very emotional. It may have caused him to get in some trouble, though. White was dragging around the American flag and even stepped on it while celebrating. Social media, of course, had a reaction to that.

2) Scary crash on the halfpipe

Before White's second run, the competition was delayed for a few minutes after Japanese snowboarder Yuto Totsuka crashed onto the side of the halfpipe. He fell at least 22 feet into the center of the pipe.

Totsuka had to be carried away on a stretcher, but he was sitting up before they took him away.

Watch the crash here.

Here's the latest on his status.

3) Love is in the air

Happy Valentine's Day! While we're all getting ready to empty our wallets for flowers and chocolates, the Olympians in PyeongChang already celebrated. (They're 14 hours ahead of us).

Skater Chris Knierim raised the bar high for all of us. He and his wife, Alexa, are competing in the pairs' competition. After their performance, Chris kissed Alexa on the ice and then gave her a pretty sweet Valentines Day present.

If he can do it on the other side of the globe while under the pressure of winning gold, the rest of us can step it up.

4) A Day in the Life

The North Korean pair of Ryom Tai Ok and Kim Ju Sik made their Olympic debut, and they did not disappoint.

They qualified for the pairs' final, which is on Wednesday. But what raised some eye brows was their interesting song choice of "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles.

It's safe to say most North Koreans don't know The Beatles, which has caused us to wonder how the song was picked in the first place. There are a couple theories.

5) Broom, broom, pow

I was going to write something about the winds delaying more stuff here, but I won't. Yes, Mikaela Shiffrin still hasn't gotten a chance to compete. I don't know if she ever will.

So instead, a quick curling update. The men's team won their first match against South Korea 11-7. That gave us another chance to watch Matt Hamilton, who apparently looks like every man with a mustache ever.

The women's team lost to Japan 10-5.
