RIO DE JANEIRO — The Olympics may be ending, but Great Britain wanted to make one last statement on the way out.

The team wore light-up shoes during the closing ceremony, shoes that, with each step, changed from red to white to blue and back again. In the darkened Maracana arena, the flickering feet of the British athletes drew oohs and aahs from the crowd. Complemented with red shorts and clean white jackets, the look was a clear hit with the people in attendance.

Other fashion statements were more on the demure side. The Americans wore white shorts with different jackets, some red, some white and some blue. The Canadians wore red jackets with a maple leaf on the shoulder, black track pants, and red mittens.

There was only one consistent fashion statement across countries — clear plastic ponchos, as halfway through the procession it had begun to rain through the open roof of the stadium.
