Road to Rio: Marti Malloy

Marti is one of the few who can say she beat UFC star Ronda Rousey.

Marti Malloy has her eyes set on a second Olympic medal this summer, but her bigger dream is to be a world champion. "The Olympics are the epitome of sport for everybody, but in judo, the world championships are probably one of the most difficult, contested competitions there is. To be a world champion is like an accomplishment that never goes away in the judo world," said Marti. Her next chance is in 2017.

Marti is also in rare company. She's one of the few who ever defeated UFC great Ronda Rousey in competition back when Rousey was still on the judo mat. But if you ask Marti, she doesn't remember it because of all the times Rousey bested her. "If I did, we were kids. We were adolescents. It doesn't count because she beat me so many times."
