Annie Krall is a multi-skilled journalist at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis, Missouri.

She came to 5 On Your Side in October 2023 and also serves as a co-anchor and reporter on our sports team’s show, “5 On Your Sideline.”

A former Chicago radio news anchor for WLS-Radio, Annie moved back to the Windy City, her hometown, after being an on-air TV reporter for WBAY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

In Wisconsin, Annie covered breaking news with the Packers, including Aaron Rodgers' contract status prior to his departure. She also reported live from the Ryder Cup international golf tournament in Sheboygan in 2021.

Always at the center of sports, entertainment, and wellness, Annie analyzed the pressure celebrities like Hannah Brown from “The Bachelorette” experience daily and how seeking perfection impacts their mental health. These types of conversations led her to host her own weekly medical investigative series within Green Bay titled “Your Health Matters” to get a boots-on-the-ground snapshot from doctors, nurses, psychologists, and patients.

Sharpening her skills on the links as a competitive golfer since she was six years old, Annie was also the inaugural entertainment golf correspondent for the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Her role showcased celebrity women who either play or have had their lives changed by the sport in hopes of growing the game in a typically underrepresented demographic.

Annie was pre-med while majoring in religious studies and minoring in German at Northwestern University. After being accepted to medical school senior year, she deferred her acceptance to pursue a master's in health, environment, and science journalism at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.

From her first on-air appearance, she knew wearing a physician's white coat was no longer in the cards. Her medical background proved to be invaluable as she tackled the fast-paced New York City news world at ABC News on their business and medical units just as COVID-19 transformed our lives in March 2020. Annie researched and wrote stories for Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, 20/20 and Nightline.

Before ABC News, Annie spent more than a year as on-air talent and a producer/writer for MediaTracks Communications, where her stories reached more than 3 million people weekly. She hosted the nationally distributed Then and Now radio talk show, as well as produced Radio Health Journal and Viewpoints radio news magazines. Her original content focused on the relationship among health.

Annie’s interdisciplinary approach to media stems from her creation of the first preventive women's heart health initiative for college-age women, titled "Go Red Goes to Campus," which was presented at universities throughout Illinois.

With such a diverse reporting background, Annie used to teach the next generation of journalists as an adjunct faculty professor at Northwestern University and Columbia College of Chicago. A third-generation Wildcat with her twin sister, both her parents, and maternal grandmother all attending Northwestern, Annie comes from a family of teachers.

Annie is excited to call St. Louis home not only for the warmer temperatures, but thanks to the rich history that comes with such a major news and sports town. Being able to connect with a diverse range of people at some of their highest highs and lowest lows in life is one of the biggest reasons she was willing to trade in a stethoscope for a microphone. Her goal is to do more good as a journalist than as a doctor thanks to the extensive reach of TV, especially at a station like KSDK.

When she’s not out in the community shooting interviews or video, you can likely find Annie in the kitchen baking one of her favorite soufflés or salted caramel thumbprint cookies during the holidays, the perfect diet for a former amateur logroller and competitor in the Lumberjack World Championship.
