ST. LOUIS – A Boston brewery has put St. Louis’ Schlafly up to a challenge in honor of the Stanley Cup Final.
Schlafly has accepted a wager from Boston-based Harpoon that the Blues will take home the cup and beat the Bruins. As the puck drops, each brewery is putting its best beers on the line in support of their respective teams – betting the losing brewery to pour the other’s beer for one day following the big win.
Schlafly upped the ante and suggested the losing brewery’s staff also wear the winning team’s gear while pouring the competition’s beer.
“We’ve been waiting a long time to play for a championship title again—a lot of people who work at the brewery weren’t even alive the last time we had this chance. The added bonus of a wager with a great brewery in Boston makes this historic time in St. Louis even more exciting,” said Founding Brewer Stephen Hale. “Although it would be a treat to pour a few Harpoon IPAs through our taps, we’d much rather have the coveted Stanley Cup in St. Louis for the very first time.”
The winning brewery will be announced on social media shortly after the winning team is awarded the trophy.
