St. Louis coffee shop, restaurant temporarily closes due to lead contamination, owner says

No re-opening date was announced on the GoFundMe.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis coffee shop and restaurant temporarily closed due to lead contamination, the owner said.

According to a Facebook post, Brew Tulum Speciality Coffee Experience, located on Delmar Boulevard, found an "environmental hazard" at the business location.

An inspection found lead dust on the walls, the floor, inside the HVAC system and remnants of exposed lead paint on the walls, the post said.

Brew Tulum said it has contacted the St. Louis City Department of Health, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Missouri Attorney General's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regarding the inspection results and how to proceed.

Brew Tulum is a family-run business that serves Mexican specialty coffee and food. A GoFundMe was posted to help the family during the temporary closure.

No re-opening date was announced on the GoFundMe.
